Francisco Maia, M.Sc., is an environmental engineer and environmental policy researcher specialising in the automotive sector. He regularly contributes to fields such as environmental science, energy engineering, power technology and environmental engineering, which is the area dedicated to creating technological and sustainable solutions to mitigate environmental impacts and preserve natural resources.
Francisco worked as a Service Manager for an energy company, responsible for service management, collaborating with the management team to identify risks and improve services. In his role as Environmental and Safety Engineer, he ensured compliance with environmental regulations, implemented safety protocols, and supervised subcontracting activities. His work included overseeing sustainability initiatives, conducting safety inspections, and reducing the company’s environmental impact, all while enhancing operational efficiency.
He is also part of the Young Professionals Portugal, which is an affiliated group of the IEEE Portugal section, which belongs to IEEE region 8. Through this group, he organises networking events on various engineering-related topics in Portugal and around the world, given the nature of the international Young Professionals community.
Francisco has published work in top journals such as the Journal of Cleaner Production, and is always looking to publish in top media when opportunities arise.
